It’s 2026 as I’m writing this blog. I wanted to remember and reminisce about my amazing European holiday in 2023. It was an amazing holiday and one of the first of many trips in my time. I met some amazing friends who I’m still in touch with today!
If you haven’t checked out my Europe tour in 2024, please do so here! You may get a few surprises and do keep sharing this blog site if you enjoy what you read! I would be very appreciative!
So I’ve just got back from my 12 day holiday across a few countries in Europe. It was an amazing experience and I saw so much and met so many people. I went to Nice, Monaco, Rome, Vatican City, Trogir, the Blue Lagoon in Croatia and Solta.
I remember landing back at London Gatwick and I just felt this wave of grief in my soul. I think they call it the holiday blues perhaps but I just remember feeling so depressed and in mourning that I have just left this experience, the feelings and the emotions behind to return to being somewhat of a zombie that does the same things every day, sees the same places and has the same routine.
This experience for me was just magical and I felt on numerous occasions about living like this as my permanent way of life because it was just so freeing and uplifting.
This journal for me as I write this, is a way for me to reconnect to those experiences and feelings/soulness. I felt in the hours and days after I landed as my reality started to set back in, those emotions and memories that I developed and experienced whilst away were starting to become diminished. And I really don’t want that to happen.
I want to record my thoughts and memories in a small way so that I can come back here to re-experience them and connect with them in much the same way as I did when they actually happened.
I know that there will be some stuff I just won’t be able to describe so well or do justice to the actual experience but I want to try at least so that I have these memories in as much detail as possible.
Some of the things which occurred to me and that I realised on holiday are that the sea, I think it actually has a spirit and a soul. I say this because I felt I really saw and connected/bonded with her as I was in the sea.
This connection was so strong and the beautiful thing about it that I have never experienced before in my life is that it wasn’t just me that had that connection but it was everyone and everything that was in her soul.
We were all connected and because of that we all bonded with each other. This may sound really far-fetched or even superstitious for some people but I genuinely believe the sea has an actual soul and spirit and oh my god it’s beautiful!
I also want to remember the experience and group bondings that I made during my hostel stay in Trogir Croatia. I stupidly made my stop in Croatia the shortest out of my whole trip but oh my god Croatia is absolutely stunning and the small group of friends I met at the hostel was undoubtedly the best part of my whole trip.
I loved listening and drinking with them and just chilling on the beach and hearing them be so open and me being able to feel safe to talk and be supported by them. These were incredible people with amazing life experiences.
I won’t talk about their own private life experiences because that’s not for me to talk about but there’s just one specific part that was really insightful for me related to different ways that people think and also our connection with relationships and even sexuality.
I think in the West especially, a lot of things are very sexualised but after being on this holiday and speaking to some of these individuals, it’s become apparent to me that whilst the sexualised nature of some experiences may be thought of as just sex, for a lot of people, there’s a deep connection/bonding and meaning behind it.
That’s something I’ve never really thought about or realised actually existed. For these people to speak so openly about these experiences was so amazing and so humbling.
I also discovered the source of my greatest liberation – embracing death. I know it sounds really stupid but coming to the understanding and acceptance that I am mortal I was just in a rush every day to see, hear, feel, sKell and touch as many things as I possibly could.
I took risks on walking across these unprotected cliffs and stairs that weren’t very accommodating for a person who wasn’t able to see where one step stops and the next begins and where a 30ft fall into the sea would probably kill me in all likelihood. But I braved it and because of this I felt for the first time I was actually living and felt so alive. This was an immense liberation for me.
I think firstly though I’ll start talking about some of my regrets or leanings from my holiday. I live my life based on regrets for the most part so that I can continuously improve. So if I start talking about my regrets or learning first maybe my next holiday will be much better (not that this wasn’t). Stay tuned for the next post 🙂
